"The Adventure Is Down There"

Louis Sachar's Newbery Award winning book, HOLES

Teenager, Stanley Yelnats (La Beouf), is sent to Camp Green Lake, a Texas detention camp that is actually located in a blazing hot, waterless desert. Stanley has been convicted of a crime (stealing a pair of sneakers) he did not commit and now unfairly pays the price. At Camp Green Lake, he and the other boys are forced by the evil warden (Sigourney Weaver) to dig holes as a "character-building experience." Each day the boys must dig a hole five feet deep and five feet wide in the baked earth that was once the bottom of Green Lake. Soon, the boys discover that the warden is really looking for the legendary buried treasure of an old west bandit, Kissin' Kate Barlow (Patricia Arquette). Now the stage is set for justice and redemption.
